Genesis
 Reptile Rescue

Where stewardship, husbandry, and herpetoculture meet

Our MISSION

At Genesis Reptile Rescue we believe that Mankind was entrusted by our Creator to be good stewards of creation. We encourage this call to stewardship by promoting quality reptile husbandry practices. As the need arises, we shall help to facilitate the rescue, foster care, and rehoming of reptiles and amphibians into caring, knowledgeable, responsible, and committed forever homes.

Stewardship

Stewardship means we have been entrusted with the welfare and belongings of someone or something else and that we must be held accountable for how we handle that responsibility.

- Paul E. Chapman

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

~Genesis 1:26

Herpetoculture

Herpetoculture is the keeping of live reptiles and amphibians in captivity, whether as a hobby or as a commercial breeding operation. It is undertaken by people of all ages and from all walks of life, including career herpetologists, professional reptile or amphibian breeders, and casual hobbyists. "Herps" is an informal term used for both reptiles and amphibians.

Husbandry

The science of caring for animals.

The godly care for their animals,
but the wicked are always cruel.

~Proverbs 12:10

Ultimately our goal at Genesis Reptile Rescue is that our rescue services would not be needed. We try to accomplish this by educating the public about proper animal husbandry as well as stressing the importance of doing your research before ever purchasing an animal in the first place. Reptiles can make amazing pets but they are not for everyone. Some require very specific care, and some grow quite large. Some are beautiful but also dangerous. Some may not harm you but you could very easily accidentally harm them. Add to this the fact that oftentimes the information given at a pet store (especially chain stores) can be very generalized, inaccurate, or in some cases harmful to the animal.

Please do extensive research before taking an animal into your care!

Reptiles can make amazing pets...
But they are not for everyone
